Yesterday marked a milestone at the KNVB headquarters in Zeist, where the inaugural Masterclass Finance in Professional Football took place. This unique program brought together 20 management-level professionals from Dutch professional football organizations (BVOs) to enhance their financial knowledge and decision-making skills.
The day began with Professor Dennis Vink from Nyenrode Business University, who provided a deep dive into foundational finance concepts, equipping participants with essential knowledge and terminology. The session was followed by an interactive case study led by SportsinQ’s own Bartel Berkhout. This included a simulated board meeting designed to sharpen participants’ communication and negotiation skills in a financial context.
After dinner, guest speaker Onno Jacobs, a seasoned former CFO and CEO in professional football, shared his insights. He offered practical advice on managing strategic and budgetary discussions, emphasizing key considerations for financial conversations within football organizations.
The second and final module of this Masterclass will take place on December 11. We extend our thanks to all participants and contributors for making this first module a resounding success.
Stay tuned for more updates on how SportsinQ is driving professional development in the world of sports.
